 ShoreTel Announced Acquisition of M5 Networks

ShoreTel, one of leading providers of IP phone systems with integrated UC, has officially stated that the company had signed a definitive agreement to purchase M5 Networks, one of leaders in hosted UC.
With this acquisition, ShoreTel will gain a unique position and ability to offer customers a choice between hosted UC and on-premise solutions.
Under the terms of the agreement, the shareholders of M5 will receive $84 million in cash and 9.5 million shares of ShoreTel stock that is equal to a total of $146.3 million. Additionally, M5 shareholders may get additional contingent consideration of up to $13.7 million.
This acquisition of M5 empowers ShoreTel to extend its solutions into the cloud, as well as to reach a large and increasing market segment of customers looking to use IP communications via a hosted model.
The CEO of ShoreTel commented that this deal positions the company as a leader in the cloud UC market and provides a suite of unique hosted telephony solutions. Moreover, this acquisition enables ShoreTel to capitalize on trends in cloud computing and advance its enterprise communications strategy.
