Taipei, Taiwan, June3, 2009?Leadtek Research Inc., a world leading manufacturer of multimedia products has announced the release of a new SpursEngineTMoperating under Linux CENTOS 5.2 OS (Kernel 2.6.18-92).

This Linux SDK (Software Development Kit) in both English and Japanese versions, unveiled on the opening day of Computex 2009 will soon be available to the general consumer.

To enhance the SpursEngineTM's hardware environment, Leadtek has not only made WinFast ® PxVC1100 compatible with desktop PC but also come up with WinFast ® HPVC1100 that works with a Notebook PC. WinFast ® HPVC1100 is slated to launch at the end of June.

Apart from supping up the hardware environment, there is also the option of Leadtek's SpursEngineTM barebone system solution. Together with Fixstars ® , Leadtek will provide a barebone system solution that packages both SpursEngineTM and SDK for worldwide system integrators.

At Computex, Leadtekwill also be running demo programs to highlight the performance of SpursEngineTM under Linux OS.

WinFast ® PxVC1100is a brand-new generation of MPEG-2/H.264(also knownas MPEG4-AVC) transcoding card with Toshiba ® 's high-performance stream processorSpursEngineTMthat integrates four Synergistic Processing Element (SPE) cores based on the "Cell Broadband EngineTM”.

PxVC1100 features include intelligentpower protection, a one-slot adaptive cooling FANsink, and PCI-ExpressLow profileform factor.

On the other hand WinFast ® HPVC1100is an external box specially designed for Notebook users but with a PxVC1100 inside. It is connected to a Notebook PC with a 34mm Expresscard interface.

This means WinFast ® HPVC1100 applications are as powerful as those provided by PxVC1100 and in this extended environment laptop users can now enjoy SpursEngineTM on the fly.

Based on SpursEngineTM's powerfulparallel coding capabilities provided by SDK under Microsoft®Windows and Linux OS, users are able to extend its core application from basic visual effects to advanced system development in many professional fields.
