Huawei Has Sustained Its No.1 Title in PON Market Share for the Last Three Quarters | |
28 December 2009
[Shenzhen, China, 28 December, 2009] Huawei, a leader in providing next generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, recently announced that according to the 3Q2009 PON and FTTH Equipment and Subscribers report released by Infonetics, Huawei is ranked No.1 in terms of PON shipment, with an overwhelmingly large market share of 28%, and so far Huawei has topped the PON shipment for the last three quarters.
As indicated in this report, FTTx rollouts worldwide are increasing sequentially and PON deployments take the major part of such FTTx rollouts. Huawei has led the GPON and EPON shipments, with the world's largest shares of 38% and 25% respectively. At the same time, in EMEA and Asia Pacific, Huawei is also the largest FTTx solution provider and Huawei FTTx market shares in these two regions have hit 62% and 58% respectively.
2009 is also a remarkable year for Huawei to help advance the commercial use of FTTx worldwide. To be specific, Huawei has won plenty of FTTx projects, such as in Swisscom, Telekom Austria, Indian BSNL, Malaysia Telecom, and Singapore NGNBN. Moreover, Huawei has been persistently making innovations in FTTx and specifically has deployed the world's first 10G EPON pilot office in China Telecom and conducted the world's first 10G GPON field test over the existing network of Verizon.
Jeff Heynen, an analyst with Infonetics, points out, "Huawei has solidified itself as a major supplier of EPON equipment to China Telecom and China Unicom, as well as early GPON equipment to China Mobile. Huawei is also finding international traction, with GPON equipment wins at Etisalat, Portugal Telecom, and Telecom Italia. Huawei will continue to be a major player in the worldwide PON equipment market."
"Huawei has become the world's largest PON supplier in 2009 and this result cannot be yielded without customers' trust and support. This also signifies that Huawei's leading FTTx solutions, and engineering implementation and delivery have been widely recognized by customers in the globe. Huawei will continue its efforts and go on focusing on customers' requirements and challenges like before, thereby providing more innovative and industry-leading solutions and services," Yang Zhirong, president of the Access Network Product Line in Huawei, says.
As a leader in IP and optical access, Huawei has been servicing 6 of Top 10 operators worldwide, including Deutsche Telekom, Vodafone, and France Telecom and has accumulated rich experience in end-to-end FTTx deployment and delivery. To date, Huawei has become the biggest contract winner of FTTx commercial contracts with the world's leading operators.
