NEW MOBILE SMARTPHONE APP BRINGS FREE SPEECH CLOSER TO REALITY

January 2011, [Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania] -- FREE SPEECH, truly free speech, for all citizens of planet earth came a step closer to reality today with the announcement that Voxigo has released its mobile Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) application for Smartphones running the Android operating system (OS). Google Android currently has the second largest share of the Smartphone OS market in the United States, surpassing Apple, while the leading RIM BlackBerry device saw its market share drop 4.1 percent in the last quarter of 2010, according to a January 2011 comScore report.

Globally, Android’s share of the Smartphone market skyrocketed to 25 percent at the end of 2010 and will grow at double the rate of its competitors throughout 2011, predicts Canalys principal analyst Chris Jones. The meteoric rise of this relatively new OS underscores the importance of Voxigo’s new Smartphone application, as Android’s popularity will enable Voxigo to bring no-cost and low-cost mobile communication to the masses worldwide on a scale previously unimagined.

Voxigo’s Smartphone application is available for free download from the Android Market and supports most Android phones running version 1.6 or greater. The application is free to use. Calls to other Voxigo users are always free, while rates to landline phones and none Voxigo supported phones start as low as one cent per minute.

The new application allows users in more than 53 countries worldwide to make calls without 3G or Wi-Fi access by auto detecting the closest Voxigo access number to connect to the Voxigo network and route the user’s call at the cost of a local call. For this reason, the application meets the needs of users seeking to save on calls from their mobile phones, as well as international travelers who wish to avoid roaming charges when calling home from abroad. The application also meets the needs of business owners who want to save on international calls.

Voxigo’s revolutionary new technology enables callers to utilize existing Wi-Fi connections or mobile network connections to ensure that calls and text messages originating from a caller’s mobile device reach their destination in the way that is least expensive. As these calls make use of the Internet, this often means the caller will avoid paying the standard mobile network operator for the call. Billing is then done by Voxigo at rates as much as 90 percent lower.
