 West Corporation Has Announced Acquisition of Smoothstone IP Communications

West Corporation has stated about the company’s plans to acquire Smoothstone IP Communications. This acquisition will add value to growing UC business of West Corporation that already includes InterCall.
Smoothstone creates and provides highly flexible and scalable solutions designed to meet clients’ IP telephony requirements. Smoothstone provides software-driven apps delivered via a software-as-a-service model. Smoothstone’s solutions intend to lower the costs, risks and uncertainties of using new IP technology. Smoothstone’s apps and services are designed to provide the advantages of unified IP communications to businesses in short time.
West Corporation will pay about $120 million for acquisition of Smoothstone IP Communications. The merger is planned to be closed in the second quarter of 2011.
With completion of the acquisition, Smoothstone IP Communications will become a part of West’s UC operating segment. Moreover, Smoothstone product suite will be available to West’s customers, bringing cloud-based IP telephony to a list of West’s UC solutions.
