21 January 2012

Datatrend Technologies has recently announced that its new unified communications and collaboration appliance had been integrated with Glowpoint’s Virtual Video Room, allowing users to access on-demand HD-quality video conferencing over PCs via IBM Sametime.
Glowpoint representatives noted that Virtual Video Room (VVR) represents a fully cloud hosted service for on-demand, HD videoconferencing; it provides “easy way for SMBs to adopt video and realize virtual collaboration using any SIP, H.323 or ISDN based video solution.”
Datatrend selected the Lotusphere 2012 as the venue to launch the new UCC appliance, which offers features designed to reduce travel and operating expenses through telepresence and videoconferencing, as well as to eliminate the necessity for businesses to invest in physical infrastructure.
The collaborative ability of the solution “is made possible by IBM Sametime with Sametime Unified Telephony (SUT) Lite installed on an IBM BladeCenter or IBM System x server precisely configured for the video and IBM Sametime interfaces.”
